In 1989, America got a cold slap in the face, and a call to arms that united thousands of people on all sides of the conservation table. People worked long hours for months to save animals, shorelines and fishing communities. This was the most sustained, intensive series of assignment(s) I had ever done. It felt like a war zone. The challenge was not only flying and shooting in lousy weather over open ocean, but also getting hundreds of rolls of film back to editors in NY. It was the best experience during the worst of times.
