There are a lot of assumptions about what life is like away from big cities. Many people assume, outwardly or under their breath, that native people do not have the perspective or intelligence to choose a "normal" life in "normal" society. Nothing could be farther from the truth, or more hypocritical.
Everywhere I have been fortunate enough to travel, I have found a common thread among native people: They, like most of us, choose to be where they are. They choose it for reasons of family, security, freedom, health, faith or other intangible reasons. So there lies our connection to all indigenous people on this planet -- not through technology, but by our choices and basic humanity.
